Old Country Store

Over the past few years I have become interested in things…….nostalgia, especially old gas stations and country stores.  I have a lot of fond memories frequenting old stores as a child and indulging in a super cold, large glass soda.  I have been planning on building an old gas station replica in my yard for the purpose of serving friends and family.  This would also house my office and antiques that are of the store kind.  This would free-up my current office thus becoming a permanent guest room and of course our storm shelter.  As of now I have to remove my desk and filing cabinet and camping gear every time we have overnight guests and this is quite the feet.  I plan on keeping cost to a minimum so I am designing the basic construction shell that will serve as a carp0rt until it is closed in over the next few years.  I plan on using old building materials as much as possible.  I have already located 60-70 year old wood windows at virtually little cost.  I also would like to purchase the screen doors off of the old building in the photos below.  Siding will consist of cypress.  I plan on maybe using a pole barn structure to start the shell or maybe engineered trusses, whichever is cheaper.  Today we visited the site of a very old country store nearby our home.  You can tell in the photos that much of the structure remains very solid.  I hope to inquire of the doors soon but really have no idea who owns it or if it is even for sale.  I also like the gas station look and hope to combine the look of the store in the below photos with the gas station replica listed here .
